AIS subscriber CD effective date 18 January 2007. Dear Subscribers, For the 18 January 2007 CD, unless otherwise noted in the daily National Flight Data Digest (NFDD), this CD incorporates data published in the NFDD through: Airspace: NFDD # 242 dated 18 December 2006 Airports: NFDD # 242 dated 18 December 2006 PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE NO FORMAT CHANGES FOR THE DATA FILES ON THIS SUBSCRIBER CD. Included on this CD-ROM, in the folder Shape_Files_Beta_Not-for-Navigation, are shape files describing Class B, C, and D airspace. Many geographic information system (GIS) applications are capable of reading shapefiles (the dbf, shx, and shp file extensions) included with each type of airspace. This data is currently not for navigation and is provided for analysis and feedback. The shapes have been created based on the official airspace descriptions provided in FAA Order 7400.9. Please provide feedback to Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) at 9-awa-ata100-feedback@faa.gov. In 2007, AIS plans on distributing certified airspace shapefiles, including Class E airspace. IMPORTANT CHANGES TO NASR 56-DAY SUBSCRIPTION DELIVERY: PLEASE READ AIS is pleased to announce a new web-based electronic distribution system for digital aeronautical data, including the 56-day NASR subscriber files which you currently receive on CD-ROM via FEDEX. The Facility Aeronautical Data Distribution System (FADDS) is located at http://nfdc.faa.gov. Users are strongly encouraged to transition to the online system which has many advantages over the current distribution system. One of the primary reasons for registering is the data will be available a week and a half before the CD-ROM is received; there is no cost to subscribe; users can select all or some of the files to download; and the system reduces the cost of distributing time-critical data. If there are changes to the contact information currently on file or you are unsure whether the information is correct, please contact Dan Gerecht, 202-493-5512 or Daniel.B.Gerecht@faa.gov. You can also e-mail your request to 9-awa-ata100-feedback@faa.gov. INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING TO THE FACILITY AERONAUTICAL DATA DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (FADDS) Please point your browser to http://nfdc.faa.gov On the right side of your screen you will see a link to log in. You must register as a 'New User' to request access to the site. On the 'New User' screen select the product you are requesting to download. The FADDS administrator will be notified and access/permissions will be assigned. Please contact AIS if you have difficulty logging into the site. In the near future, this product may no longer be available on CD-ROMs - so please register. ADVANCED NAVIGATION ROUTES: The ANR.txt file ("Advanced Navigation Routes") is now a regular part of the subscriber CD. No ANR data, however, has been added to the database. Therefore, the ANR.txt subscriber file contains no data. This is not an error. To facilitate future communications with our subscribers, we strongly recommend all subscribers provide an updated email address and contact information to Aeronautical Information Services, Office of System Operations and Safety, ATO-R. Your contact information, and comments or suggestions, can be directed to Aeronautical Information Services at the following contact points: Telephone: 1-866-295-8236 ext. 35442. email: 9-awa-ata100-feedback@faa.gov
